I Am New
Where Are We?
We are located at the corner of De Zavala and Vance Jackson, about 1/4 mile east of I-10.
Our North Campus is the home the home of our contemporary worship service, and student ministry area. Our South Campus is the home of our traditional worship service as well as our nursery, children’s ministry area, special needs ministry, and main offices. For directions and a map, visit Getting Here.
Parking
We have ample parking on both campuses as well as entrances to both campuses from Vance Jackson and De Zavala. If you plan on worshipping on the North Campus then feel free to park on that side; and the same goes for the South Campus. If you plan to attend the contemporary service but have a child to put in the nursery or Sunday school, both of these are on the South Campus. In this instance it can be easier to park on the south campus and walk across the sky bridge to the North Campus for worship.
Worship Services
Traditional Worship: 8:15 am, 9:30am, 11:00am; South Sanctuary
Our traditional worship service is rooted in the tradition of the church as well as utilizing traditional elements of United Methodist liturgy. We sing the classic hymns of our faith, say the Lord’s Prayer each week and are blessed by the music of our Sanctuary Choir. The preacher for this service is University’s Directing Pastor, Charles Anderson. Pastor Charles offers Biblical sermons that connect to the heart of the congregation and move us more to look to Jesus and look like Jesus. We celebrate Holy Communion on the first Sunday of each month. There are also prayer guides at the altar rail at the close of each service to pray with you or for you.
Contemporary Worship: 9:30am, 11:00am; North Sanctuary
Our contemporary worship service uses cutting edge music, video and technology, and relevant preaching to communicate the timeless message of Jesus Christ. It is a casual service where you can feel free to come as you are. The music is led by our contemporary worship band and the preaching comes from our Teaching Pastor, Ryan Barnett. Pastor Ryan opens up the scriptures for us and always challenges us to be in covenant relationship with God, revealed in Jesus Christ. We celebrate Holy Communion on the first Sunday of each month and there is a prayer center in the front left corner of the sanctuary for you to go and find someone to pray with or for you.
Guest Connection/Info Desks
There are Guest Connection Desks on both campuses to offer you direction, answer questions or give you information about University. On the North Campus the desk is in the large service window located in the main lobby outside of the worship area. On the South Campus the desk is next to the South Sanctuary at the north end of the Atrium.
Nursery/Kids Info
On Sunday morning we have nursery up to age 2. The nursery is on the South Campus in our u|kids building. You will check your child into the room and be given a pager from our nursery staff in case they need to get a hold of you. When you pick your child up the person who checked the child in will need to check the child out.
For children age 2 to elementary age we have “Grace Place” and for 1st through 5th grade our u|kids Ministry offers J-Quest; an amazing, interactive, rotational Sunday school. Your child will learn the Bible by participating in a different experience each week. A cooking room, acting sound stage, movie theater, and science lab are just some of the experiences they will have. Go to the u|kids Welcome Desk at the south end of the Atrium on the South Campus to learn more.
